EAST SUSSEX & COAST

E-Biking Gourmet Experience

What we love most about East Sussex

Sussex, nestled between rolling green hills and the English Channel, is one of England’s best-kept secrets for weekend getaways – particularly when it comes to its sparkling wine! Studded with rural towns, idyllic villages and pristine countryside, Sussex is simply an oasis of calm. Relax and unwind with a glorious stay at one of our favoured beauty spots!

Travel Itinerary

Day 1

Stay two nights at a boutique hotel in Alfriston, a beautiful 19th-century colonial-style country house. In the afternoon, explore this beautiful and historic medieval village with its array of pubs and bespoke shops (with optional private brewery tour).

In the evening, enjoy dinner in the acclaimed hotel restaurant.

Day 2

Visit a local farm for a cup of their own blend coffee. You will be hosted by the senior roaster who will talk you through the roasting and blending process. Once set up on your e-bike, ride with your guide through the medieval village of Alfriston,  and up to the peak of Firle Beacon. Ride the ridge of the South Downs to a local wine estate, meet their experienced staff for a tour of the winery followed by a tasting and an opportunity to buy wines (any wines purchased will be  ready for you to collect at the end of the ride back at the hotel). Unwind with lunch in a charming local pub.

After lunch, ride to Cuckmere Haven with its iconic white cliffs before transitioning through Friston Forest to Lullington Heath. Back in Alfriston, meet the head brewer of a local brewery. Enjoy an exclusive private tour and tasting experience giving you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of craft brewing. Transfer back to hotel to relax before an evening meal at one of the many pubs or restaurants that Alfriston has to offer.

Day 3

After breakfast, ride to the historic county town of Lewes (your luggage will be transferred privately). You’ll cycle the Old Coach Road via the beautiful village of Firle, as well as passing the iconic opera house at Glyndebourne. Refuel in the best coffee shop in town via the South Downs Way before stopping at a boutique wine estate, where you’ll learn about these artisan winemakers and taste their exceptional fine English wines with local delicacies for a quintessential English lunch!

Continue on the day’s ride to Brighton, where you’ll stay in an original boutique hotel.  This Grade II listed town house is situated in a Georgian terrace, just a short walk from the centre of Brighton and just a stone’s throw from the city’s stunning Regency seafront — perfect for exploring what has been deemed “the happiest city in the world”.

Day 4

This morning, enjoy a stroll along the beachfront, discover seaside pleasure palace The Royal Pavillion, and wander through The Lanes, the best streets in which to immerse yourself in Brighton’s quirky culture.
